The Pot Belly Pig

So, here I am, sitting in my favorite spot on the porch, drinking my Sunday morning coffee.  I love to watch the birds, chipmunks, squirrels and other wildlife in the little sheltered area right outside my window.  Uh, speaking of wildlife, a stray is trotting up the road.  Wait, that's not a dog, that's a pot belly pig!

I told my husband, "Hey, I just watched a pot belly pig trotting up the road."
"What did you do?" he said.
"I watched him," I said.

He headed out to see about the pig, and feed the horses.  He came back in.
"The pig's in the field with the horses, eating grain and freaking out the horses," he said.

Yes, they certainly were freaking out.  Bucc was prancing and trotting like a two year old, and he's twenty four.  Charley, who is not much younger, alternated between hiding in the shed and peeking around the fence to watch.  Pokey stood legs stretched out, eyes all white and wild.  Rebel didn't dignify the pig with much of a response.  He's the bomb proof one.

Well, that pig is just the cutest thing on four legs.  Once she stopped squealing bloody murder at being picked up and safely contained.

I called the animal control number and got music.  Called again and got music.  Decided to hold on the line and listen for a while because the music was nice.  And a nice young man finally came on the line and regretted to inform me that unless it was an emergency or a biting problem, or some such thing, the animal control people don't work on weekends.  So much for our tax dollars at work!

Turned out to be a good thing.  You see, it's a small community, and Scott had driven around with the pig to look for her owners with no luck, which was weird, because she is obviously well cared for, well fed and her feet are fine which means she hadn't walked far.

But word got out, and people watch out for each other, and by noon today, a little over 24 hours later, someone saw the frantic request on Craig's list and the little pig's owners have come to pick her up.

What the heck does this have to do with World Wealth UNLtd.?

Well, let's look at the facts.  Pig is safe.  Pig came to a place where it could be contained, fed and cared for while its owners were found.  Pig had a great time.  Said author and husband did NOT go into panic, overreact mode when the pig showed up (standard for husband, new and improved response for author....) Pig endeared herself to all concerned, and yet those closely concerned (i.e. the author and her husband) did not fall into the trap of becoming attached to said pig, which really would be happier elsewhere.  Pig did not end up at the dog pound where it might not have been found by the owners, and might not have been as comfortable, and definitely would NOT have been so spoiled.  And pig did not cost owners a penalty fee for pickup and recovery.  And it was a nice visit, and without much work on anyone's part, because we all asked for help and everyone just stayed aware and calm, the owners included, the issue was resolved in about a day.  Actually, it never really became "an issue!"

What could be wealthier than that?????
